MALTA BLOCK 600

THERMALLY INSULATING MASONRY MORTAR. 37.5 lb/ft³ (600 kg/m3)

MALTA BLOCK 600 is a ready-to-use thermal mortar for insulating masonry (EN 998-2), made of hydraulic binders and virgin EPS beads (Ø 0.079 to 0.118 in (2-3 mm)) coated with the E.I.A. additive. It is the mortar of the SMARTBLOCK® system and of all lightweight, highly insulating cement blocks.

Where a normal mortar would create a thermal bridge at every joint, MALTA BLOCK 600 keeps the wall homogeneous: λD 1.1 BTU·in/(h·ft²·°F) (0.158 W/(m·K)), M2.5 class and A1 fire reaction. It is light (approx. 37.5 lb/ft³ (600 kg/m³)), easy to mix and one 1.8 ft³ (50 L) bag lays about 54 ft² (5 m²) of wall.

Thermal conductivity λD: 1.1 BTU·in/(h·ft²·°F) (0.158 W/(m·K)).
Compressive strength: > 363 psi (> 2.5 N/mm²) (M2.5); flexural strength > 100 psi (> 0.69 N/mm²); initial shear strength 22 psi (0.15 N/mm²).
Water vapor diffusion resistance factor μ: 13; water absorption 0.09 kg/(m²·min⁰·⁵) (W2); chloride content < 0.02%.
Reaction to fire: A1.
Yield: 1 bag = 54 ft² (5 m²); mixing water 4-4.8 gal (15-18 L) per bag; mix 5-10 minutes with drill or cement mixer.
Application between 41 °F (+5 °C) and 95 °F (+35 °C), not in direct sunlight.
1.8 ft³ (50 L) bags; pallet of 40 bags (44 or 48 on request).
